    Position Overview:

    The ASD IT division of SSI Schaefer specifies, designs, and implements software solutions for automated material handling and equipment in warehouses and distribution centers.  An IT Project Manager will plan, organize, and integrate cross-functional IT projects.  Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships are essential as the IT Project Manager will frequently interact with customers.  This position requires an understanding of the software development process, strong analytical skills, and ability to understand complex processes.

     

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions:

    • Manage every aspect of IT projects
    • Analyze and define requirements for software solutions for material handling systems
    • Create IT requirement specifications for projects
    • Lead team of Software Developers, Database Administrators, and Quality Assurance Engineers on a project basis
    • Coordinate with IT managers to organize resources and timelines for projects
    • Establish clear responsibilities for all departments in executing projects
    • Frequently communicate with customers and team members during all project phases
    • Design and implement software solutions based on software requirement specifications
    • Actively escalate issues to Head of IT Project Management
    • Organize project team meetings on an as-needed basis

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities: There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.

     

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Occasionally support Sales and Application Engineering departments as IT specialist as required
    • Design software, hardware and network architecture based on project requirements
    • Organize software commissioning on-site
    • Create software documentation for software implementation
    • Support IT CSS engineers and on-site Software Support Engineers
    • Set-up and execute test scenarios for commissioning
    • Troubleshoot system issues depending on project requirements

    Qualifications

    • Qualification Requirements:  

      • 4-year degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience in similar work
      • 3 years of experience managing IT software projects
      • 3 years of experience with Java or other object-oriented programming languages
      • 3 years of experience with SQL databases (Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server)
      • International travel for training, project assignments and commissioning will be required
      • Must be able to work on-call
