  • Overview

    The IT Consultant specifies, designs and implements software solutions for Warehouse Management Systems and automated material handling software systems and equipment in warehouses and distribution centers. This position requires detailed knowledge about logistical processes, requirement analysis methodologies, data-mapping and system interface specifications. Communication skills are essential as the IT Consultant will frequently talk to customers.


    • Tests software against requirements
    • Organizes and participates in software commissioning on-site
    • Supports system ramp-up and go-live on-site
    • Supports team of Software Developers, Database Administrators and Network Administrators on a project basis
    • Creates software documentation
    • Supports IT engineers and on-site Software Support Engineers
    • Configures software solutions based on software requirement specifications
    • Analyses and defines requirements for logistical software solutions including but not limited to
    • Documentation of existing processes
    • Process optimization and modelling
    • Determine data-mapping and data-flow
    • Define system interfaces
    • Mentors colleagues and manages domain knowledge
    • Supports Sales and Application Engineering departments as IT specialist as required for sales and application engineering activities

    Additional Functions:

    • Frequently communicates and meets with customers during all project phases
    • Actively communicates with team members about the work and project status
    • Actively escalates issues to project managers or head of IT consultancy
    • Troubleshoots system issues in 1st, 2nd or 3rd level depending on project requirements
    • Travels also internationally for training, project assignments and commissioning.
    • Works on-call in 1st, 2nd or 3rd level
    • Shift work on an as needed basis for system support and/or commissioning

    • 4-year degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience in similar work.
    • Experience in warehouse logistics and/or several completed IT warehouse logistics projects as Software Developer
    • Experience with SQL databases (Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server)
    • Experience with the design and architecture of multi-tier software solutions
    • Familiar with Project and Process Management methodologies
