    The controls engineer develops and implements software solutions that control electrical and mechanical equipment for the automated material handling industry and automated equipment in warehouses and distribution centers. This position requires knowledge about various programmable logic controllers, electrical design practices and ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.


    Essential Functions:

    • Designs and implements software solutions for control systems.
    • Reviews and modifies electrical drawings.
    • Tests software implementations against requirements.
    • Takes over responsibility for areas of a project.
    • Creates documentation for the developed software solution.
    • Actively communicates with team members, controls engineer manager, project manager.
    • Actively escalates issues to the controls engineer manager and project manager.
    • Participates in team meetings as needed.
    • Tests software implementation on site with the designed equipment.
    • Sets up test scenarios for commissioning and executes them.
    • Supports system ramp-up and go live.
    • Troubleshoots system issues in 1st, 2nd or 3rd level depending on projects.
    • Supports IT and PLC CSS engineers and on site PLC engineers.


    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Performs setup of a Wi-Fi network at project start-up.
    • Handles test products for required for test scenarios.


    • 4 year degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience in similar work.
    • 1 year experience with Allen-Bradley or Siemens S7 PLC’s.
    • 1 year experience developing software using software languages specified by IEC 1131-1 standards.
