Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant provides support to the Accounting Manager of Waste & Packaging.  This position is part of the financial accounting group and provides a variety of monthly, quarterly & annual general accounting functions and support for the Waste and Packaging division of the North America region.

  • Performs general monthly accounting functions for Waste & Packaging USA and Packaging Mexico.
  • Provides general support to other operational areas such as AR, AP, and manufacturing supply chain.
  • Prepares/posts journal entries and stores backup documentation on shared drive.
  • Provides P&L commentary for current and YTD comparisons to budget.
  • Assists Accounting Manager with annual budget and periodic forecasts for all Waste & Packaging divisions.
  • Provides routine and ad hoc reporting to Accounting Manager, management and the VP of Finance.
  • Recommends improvement modifications to existing processes and programs.
  • Assists outside accounting firm with annual external audits.
  • Assists with yearly internal audit (consolidation package).
  • Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Maintains internal controls for integrity of all systems, processes, and data.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3 years work experience in a cost accounting environment
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP
  • Advanced PowerPoint skills to prepare financial presentations
  • Microsoft Dynamics AX experience  a plus
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Strong planning and budgeting abilities
  • Experience with currency exchange rates and foreign countries a plus **
