Overview

The CS Safety Manager is responsible for planning, implementing and overseeing the Safety Program of SSI Schaefer in active Resident Maintenance Distribution Centers. Their main purpose is to ensure that the company is in compliance and adheres to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) guidelines and to reduce work-related incidents. 

Responsibilities

  • Update and review Health and Safety policies and programs.
  • Evaluate customer safety programs and align SSI Schaefer policies to ensure compliance.
  • Advise and lead Site Safety Coordinators in conducting day-to-day safety tasks.
  • Evaluate and assign proper PPE.
  • Update annual refresher trainings and distribute among the job sites.
  • Conduct equipment specific trainings, such as but not limited to, Lock Out/Tag Out, Fall Protection, Equipment Operation, etc.
  • Facilitate and Chair the Safety Committee Meeting.
  • Keep updated employee files with applicable certification and training records.
  • Coordinate OSHA10 trainings for all new hires.
  • Manage incident investigations and make recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Weekly communication with the Safety Director and Project Safety Manager.
  • Work closely with Safety Coordinators and Service Managers to ensure all policies are being follow.
  • Periodic on site safety audits.
  • Maintain recordkeeping and assist Human Resources in publishing the OSHA 300A log.
  • Report to Upper Management immediately of any OSHA inspection, citation, or significant injury that occurs.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Safety Management or similar field
  • 3-5 years general industry experience (at minimum internship experience required).
  • OSHA 30-hour general industry certification
  • First Aid/CPR certification
  • Willingness and ability to travel from site to site (occasionally and at short notice).
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and end to end problem solving skills
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of personnel from technical to high level executive management, and influence key stake holders in order to develop a successful safety program.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience writing policies and procedures
  • Strong leadership, self-starter, assertiveness and interpersonal skills.  **
