Material Handlers work in our Plastics Division to aid in manufacturing a variety of plastic storage products including pallets, totes, and waste containers.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct forklift inspections as required and adhere to all safety regulations
  • Set-up workstations at each machine
  • Set-up material loaders and stage raw materials
  • Retrieve in process materials from storage areas, and maintain sufficient in process material inventory at machines
  • Move finished goods from machines to assigned storage locations
  • Assist with start-up and shutdown of machines and equipment
  • Utilize Manufacturing Execution System (MES) software to plan and execute job changeovers efficiently
  • Perform color changes as needed
  • Upon job completion remove all materials from previous job, and return them to the appropriate storage locations
  • Clean and breakdown empty gaylords
  • Maintain storage areas in a manner to ensure safety, organization, and good aesthetic appearance
  • Assist and maintain production reports and documents
  • Maintain clean and safe workstations
  • Successfully complete training programs, and assist with training new employees
  • Run machines to relieve Machine Attendants at break times
  • Assist in the first piece inspection procedures and verify that everything is produced according to the Work Order
  • Conduct inventory/cycle counts as directed
  • Maintain a high level of organization
  • Perform other projects or tasks as assigned by the Shift Lead or Management

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have a minimum of 6 months prior work experience as a Material Handler in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Forklift certified
  • Must be able to roll 450 pounds
  • Must be able to work at a pace relative to the machine cycle to qualify.
  • Additional requirements are to continue training and to be punctual
